Class A fire rating under ASTM E108, on the FR version

NIPA synthetic palm thatch was designed and tested in the United States, ensuring superior performance in the demanding tropical conditions of the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America.

  • Fire resistance (Class A): The version with flame-retardant additive (FR) holds a Class A rating under ASTM E108. Request the test report for the product reference in your quote.

  • Protection against pests and mildew: It does not attract insects, rodents or birds; it does not rot and resists mold, ensuring a clean, durable roof.

  • Resistance to wind and tropical storms: Wind rating of 260 km/h (160 mph) when installed to NIPA specifications. On-site performance depends on the structure, fastening and project design.

  • Resistance to discoloration by UV rays: Tested for 5,000 hours under ASTM G155 (xenon arc). Accelerated tests do not convert directly into years of real exposure: weathering depends on latitude, altitude and roof orientation.

What Makes NIPA® Palma Better?

Choosing the right synthetic palm thatch matters—especially for resorts, villas, beach clubs, restaurants and any palapa-style roof where guests see the details up close. NIPA® Palma is designed to look more natural, install faster and deliver consistent quality straight from the source.

Nature doesn't repeat itself—and neither does NIPA® Palma. Our synthetic palm thatch panels are made with two different molds to reduce visible pattern repetition (especially from below, where the roof is seen most). The blend of multiple natural tones creates depth, shadow and subtle movement for an organic finish that doesn't look “manufactured”.

NIPA® Palma offers some of the largest palm roofing panels on the market, covering more area with fewer pieces. That means fewer fasteners, wider batten spacing, faster installation, cleaner lines and less shipping volume—reducing the total installed cost without losing the premium aesthetics of the palapa.

NIPA® Palma has undergone third-party wind, fire and UV exposure testing: 5,000 hours per ASTM G155 and, in the FR variant, a Class A rating per ASTM E108. Designed for demanding tropical climates, it offers long-term color stability and a clean, premium finish, with quality controlled by the manufacturer from start to finish.

NIPA®, maker of tropical roofs for hotels, is the manufacturer, not a reseller. That means tighter quality control, consistent production, custom color matching and fast turnaround—plus more competitive pricing for your project. When you choose NIPA® Palma, you work directly with the source.
